【2021-12-02】On December 2, 2021, Professor Zufeng Guo from the New Target and Chemical Intervention Research Center of the Life Sciences Research Institute of Chongqing Medical University was invited by Professor Yizhou Li to bring an academic seminar to the teachers and students at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chongqing University. The topic was "Rapamycin-inspired Macrocycles as a New Source of Chemical Probes and Drug Leads".

Professor Guo is mainly engaged in the research of innovative drugs based on natural products and their derivatives in anti-tumor and other fields. He has published 25 SCI papers with a total of more than 1,400 citations (Nat.Chem., Angew., Org.Lett., STTT and others).

During the seminar, Professor Guo first introduced the research background starting from rapamycin, then described the synthesis and screening of rapamycin-like macrocyclic small molecule libraries, and then told three stories of the development of three inhibitors: the development of the nucleoside transporter ENT1 inhibitor Rapadocin, the development of the glucose transporter GLUT inhibitor Rapaglutin and the development of the sodium-taurocholic acid cotransporter NTCP inhibitor. Finally, Professor Guo gave a brief introduction to the research project and summarized the report.

We are deeply appreciated for Professor Guo’s terrific seminar!
