Prof. Min Zhang's group made important progress in the asymmetric alkynylation of isatins
In March 2020, Min Zhang's group published a paper entitled "Enantioselective Alkynylation of Isatins: A Combination of Metal Catalysis on “Chemistry-A European Journal”.
Bifunctional catalysis combining metal catalysis and organocatalysis has emerged as one of the most promising strategies for the development of new reactions.
Min Zhang's group at Chongqing University School of Pharmaceutical Science developed an efficient and economical asymmetric alkynylation of isatins using a bifunctional amino-phosphonylurea/AgBF4 complex as a catalyst. This new catalyst system tolerates a wide range of terminal alkynes and isatins, providing a highly efficient method for obtaining structurally diverse quaternary carbon-chiral propargyl alcohols.
